Battling Bullies

The article is about bullying in schools. in this article, the incident of bully towards Mary Watson's son shows how serious bully can be, until she has to transferred her son to another school. The experts also said bully is a major problem which can have serious and long term effects.

According to Mr. Wiki, bully is some kind of abusement that comprises of repeated act over times from more powerful individual or groups towards less powerful person or groups. bullying in school and workplace can be considered as peer abuse.

In my point of view, bully always happen when someone are younger from another. for example, the students from grade six tend to bully students from lower grades.according to experience bully always in school because of the behavior and attitude. i also has experienced being a victim of bully. when i was still a small boy, an older boy than me has put a curry puff into my ears. because of too afraid, i did not do anything. until now, the incident still affects my life. i am still afraid and do not have confidence when i was talking to someone older than me.

to prevent bullies from keep happening, schools and parents play a big role. however from my observation, schools and parents has failed to do so. most of the school in Malaysia, did not focus on issue of bully among their students. on the other hand, they concerned more on discipline matter for example the dress code. that is one of the reason why bully still happens out there. parents also, in my opinion failed to help preventing bully. the reason why i said that is because usually when the children tell their parents they are being bullied, the parents will just said "fight them back". when this happened, the children will have no more place to complain about their fate. this kind of situation may lead to distress and may affect the children physicologically.

Superstition

Every cultures, races and religion has their own beliefs. i also believe that everyone is superstitious about one thing or another.in my opinion, superstition is some kind of false faith and belief that are unexplained and cannot be proven scientifically. in addition, superstition also originated from the communities in the past where the knowledges and communications amongst the people is limited. that is why we always heard acts of superstition from our ancestors. it is something that are being passed from generation to generation. the question is what is the real purpose of superstition nowadays??

In this globalization era, of course we will consider superstitions as something nonsense or obsolete. but still, superstition still exists. actually, the real purpose of superstition is to warn or to remind someone based on ignorance or to prevent them from doing something. it is like reminders or some kind of method to teach, especially the children. old folks and our parents usually use superstition to educate their children. for example, "do not sleep during dust, or you will become poor". the reason is maybe for the parents, they did not want their children to sleep during this time because the children has to perform prayers for the Muslim.

however, superstition also has its own advantages and disadvantages. one of the advantage are it is the best and easiest way to teach naughty children. the disadvantage is it may encourage the children to be a short-thinker in the future. besides that, it will also affect the communities by producing people who afraid to take any risks.

hurmm, but try to think. sometime, the superstitions told by our parents or elders really happened! is it just a coincidence?or it is true? do not let yourself clouded by mystery.....

Introduction To Critical Literacy

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. this blog was created specifically for my class subject, Critical Literacy where we are required to have our own blog as it is one of our assignment for this subject. first of all, our lecturer for this subject is Mr. Kamaraziz or known as Mr. Kamar. In our first class, Mr. Kamar told us about the course outline, the preview about Critical Literacy. we were told about Socrates, a fifth century philosopher of Greek and also one of the critical thinker in the past. Socrates is a son of one of the finest sculptor, Sophroniscus. once he work as a soldier, after retired he became a stonemason to support his life and family. Socrates then devoted his life teaching the youth of Athens. however, Socrates was claimed to be a critic of democracy and causing political infighting. in 399 B.C.E, Socrates was sentenced to death after a jury accused him for corrupting the youngsters and interfering with the religion of the city.

Besides that, we learn about the origin of critical thinking. Mr. Kamar said our brain have two houses according to Roger Sperry. Our brain have two parts, left and right. Our right brain tends to process something that related to empathy or synthesis such as holistic thought, creativity and art. while the left brain, is for cynical things like logic, science and math. a person who is right brainer might be too emotional, otherwise the person who is left brainer might be too logical about everything. so it is important to balance the usage of our brain.

In this week classes, we also discuss about superstition, a belief and thought of the elders about particular events that cannot be explain by reason or science. there were lot of superstition we shared. one of my classmates told one, "if you are clipping your fingernails at night, your house will be entered by tiger". Mr. Kamar also have his, one of it is "hitting a person with laddle, they will turn into monkey". is it make sense??? no, thats why it is called superstition. however, in my opinion all the superstition have its own moral value and lessons. it is the easiest way of teaching naughty persons.

Did you notice something about everything above??all of them got to do with critical thinking,right? all these things was related by our lecturer, to give us the preview and picture of our subject, Critical Literacy. lastly, we learnt about the Rule of Ten.
